Castle Peak Retirement Residence Multipurpose Room

The Community Volunteer Income Tax Program offers free tax preparation services for individuals, families, seniors, and persons with disabilities with moderate incomes.

The Community Volunteer Income Tax Program offers free tax preparation services for individuals, families, seniors, and persons with disabilities with moderate incomes.

Sessions will be offered on all dates in 30 minute appointments. 

In order to register, please call the Library at 705-645-4171 ext. 3806 or visit the Information Desk at the Library. Library staff must register you directly into an available appointment time slot. 

To qualify for these free tax clinics you must qualify in one of the following income levels:

FAMILY SIZE           TOTAL INCOME LEVEL

1 person                    $35,000

2 persons                   $45,000

3 persons                   $47,500

4 persons                   $50,000

5 persons                   $53,500

For families with more than 5 persons $53,500 plus $2,500 for each additional person. 

If any of the following situations apply to you, you are not able to have taxes completed at these free clinics:

- self-employment or employment expenses

- Business or rental income and expenses

- Capital gains or losses

- Filed for bankruptcy

- Completing a tax return for a deceased person

What to bring with you to your confirmed appointment

- Photo identification

- Social Insurance Number(s)

- All T-slips showing income (T4, T4A, T4E, T4RRSP, T3, etc.)

- Final municipal property tax bill (for each applicable tax year) or rent receipts for each address you have lived at during the tax year(s)

- Notice of Assessment or tax return letter from the last tax year you filed a tax return (if available)

- For students - tuition receipt (T220A or TL11A)

- For dependent children - receipts for childcare and social insurance number

- Secure Certificate of Indian Status (if applicable)

- Canada Revenue Agency letter indicating approval of the Disability Tax Credit (if applicable)

- Letter from physician indicating you have a dependent with a physical or mental infirmity, stating when the impairment began and how long it is to last (if applicable)

- If you sold your principle residence last year, provide the Settlement Statement prepared by the later showing the details of the sale

About the Library

The Bracebridge Library is located within the Muskoka Lumber Community Centre at 34 Salmon Avenue. It is a state-of-the-art facility with a makerspace, recording studio, rooms for studying and meeting, and so much more for you to explore!
