Blackletter for Beginners

Ever wanted to know how to create beautiful gothic lettering? Let's dip into it! Learn how to use a dip pen, and learn a segment of a beginner blackletter alphabet!  

In this program we will learn the building blocks of Textura Quadrata, a gothic style of blackletter calligraphy.

We will learn how to use a dip pen, what a stroke pattern is, and how to put it all together.

Each month we will visit a different letter group, making our way through alphabet one session at a time.

About the Library

The Bracebridge Library is located within the Muskoka Lumber Community Centre at 34 Salmon Avenue. It is a state-of-the-art facility with a makerspace, recording studio, rooms for studying and meeting, and so much more for you to explore!

If you are trying to see what programs you are registered for, you are able to do that on our website.

 

And you can book one of the library's rooms online, too!

 

Whether you are looking to register for a program or book a room, you need a valid Bracebridge Library card. You can renew your existing card or apply for a new one on our website.
