Bracebridge Library
MacKay Family MakerspaceSo you got a 3D printer - now what? Learn the basics of 3D printing, including filament types, common slicer settings, supports, infill, layer height, and tips for getting better prints.
Whether you’re brand new to 3D printing, thinking about getting a printer, or have had one sitting around and aren’t quite sure what to do with it, this program will cover the basics you need to get started.
We’ll look at how 3D printing works, different types of filament, and some of the most common settings you’ll encounter in slicing software, including infill, layer height, supports, and print speed. We’ll also talk about choosing models to print, common beginner mistakes, and some tips for getting more successful prints.
This is an introductory session focused on understanding the basics rather than designing your own models, 3D printing parts, or troubleshooting a specific printer.
